On 15 of June marks 60 years of the scientist, teacher, counselor, journalist, translator, poet, songwriter, bard Bilyal Khasarokov. The language of unwittingly asks the hackneyed phrase: "The talented person is talented in everything". But in this case, we are most likely not dealing with a natural gift, but with the result of hard work and a great desire to be useful to people.
Father-not of the most strict rules
Bilyal was born in Cubina. Father Magomet was a religious man, read the Koran, and everyone called him "effendi Mata", sometimes adding "one – legged" – not to emphasize his flaw, but as an indication of a distinctive feature-because the name of the Mata in the village has not he alone. Magomet became disabled still in his youth: the wound, which initially seemed insignificant, led to infection, after which the leg had to be amputated.
As mosque in Kubina was served a small chapel in the cemetery located in front of Khasarokovs` house. The house and cemetery shares the ravine through which the river Chibisch flows.
Local children in the summer days are constantly running to swim in the Kuban. Passing by the Mata's house, the children often met him returning from the mosque. And, even if efendi was still on the other side of the ravine, the whole gang stopped, as if dug in, and did not move from the place until he slowly overcomes the ravine and will not pass into his gate. You can not cross senior`s road. Perhaps if it was someone else, the boys would have pretended not to have noticed him and run on their way. But in relation to Mata such disrespect could nobody afford. "You shouldn`t cross efendi Mata`s road in any case!" this injunction, repeated by parents not once, sat firmly in the mind of everybody – even the most rowdy kid.
Mata himself didn`t require a special reverence to him. The soft person and good-natured, he, most likely, even wouldn't make remarks if someone from children made an oversight in relation to him. But this softness did not relax the children, but added sincere respect to effendi.
Bilyal was less than ten years old when his mother died. Perhaps this circumstance also affected the relationship between father and son. Mata was not too strict with him, did not require strict observance of religious canons and did not prohibit him from all sorts of hobbies – photography, music.
Once I was playing on one string of guitar a melody of Zkir (prayer, praise of Allah, recited sing – song- ed.) that the father sang. He was pleasantly surprised, - Bilyal recalls. "We had a radio in the house, and my father was happy to listen to some records that I bought especially for him.
Craving for languages
From the fourth form Bilyal was transferred to the regional national boarding school, where he received secondary education. The craving for languages, which manifested itself in it in the walls of the "incubator" (so among themselves called their boarding school) led him in 1975 to Pyatigorsk state pedagogical institute of foreign languages. Five years later, he came out with a diploma of teacher of French and German. But the years of study at the faculty of foreign languages was marked by the acquisition of not only knowledge and skills, but also new friends, a closer introduction to the work. Eugene Filippov, who taught students French, was a great lover of guitar. Around him gathered the company, in the circle of which constantly sounded songs of Vladimir Vysotsky, Bulat Okudzhava, Sergei Nikitin, Yuri Visbor and other popular bards. Eugene himself wrote poems, and Bilal put some of them to music. The resulting songs joined shared repertoire of friends. And it inspired the author to new creations. But for the time being they did not go beyond the narrow circle of his friends.
In 1980 a young professional returns to Cubina, to his father's house in which the father was gone – he died in 1977. Bilyal, now Magometovich- after all it is accepted to call teachers by name-patronymic – begins to work at school as the teacher of French. At various school events, he often sang to the guitar, and many high school students, imitating him, began to learn to play this instrument. Perhaps someone thinks it's uneducational, but it was pleasant for Bilyal Magometovich that the students treated him not only as a teacher but as a friend.
Three years later Khasarokov Bilyal was called into the army. At the end of the service, he again begins to teach, but not for long. In 1986, he was elected to the Cubina village Council and invited to work as Secretary of the Executive Committee.
After the expiration of parliamentary powers Bilyal returned to the teaching profession, but of Abaza language at school № 4 of the town of Ust-Jeguta, which is in microdistrict "Moscow". From this moment all his labor and creative activities is related to his native language.
Who, if not we?
In 1991 Bilyal Khasarokov was invited to work in the newspaper "Abazashta". Two years spent in the editorial office, where was concentrated, we can say, the whole color of the Abaza literary intelligentsia, had a huge impact on him. From leading Abaza poets, writers and journalists, he took over not only the skill of working with the word, but also the attitude to life and his place in it. Since the 60s of the twentieth century – from the beginning of the period of rapid development of national literature-it was so among Abaza people that "the poet was more than a poet." In conditions of shortage of professional staff in various fields of science and culture, writers took on many functions: wrote and sang songs, studied the language, made dictionaries, analyzed the literary process, studied the history of the people. The motto is " who, if not we?" became for Bilyal one of the main principles of life. He became much more serious to be creative, first – shifting to music the poems of Abaza poets Cali Dzhegutanov, Kerim Mkhtse, Fatimat Apsova, and then writing his own texts. At the same time, he almost completely switched to the Abaza language in his work. His first own songs were "Sleep" ("Phiz"), "Found forever" ("Antsrala hanyat"), "Mother`s covenant " ("An luasyat").
– A huge role for me was played by acquaintance with Kerim Mkhtse, - Bilyal says. - His amazing lyrics has always captivated me, and close communication with him helped to understand his worldview, which was very close to me. And, of course, it was Kerim I first showed my new poems.
The period from 1991 to 2006 for Bilyal Khasarokov was strongly associated with journalism. After the newspaper "Abazashta" he worked in the Abaza edition of the Republican radio, cable TV channel
"Channel-3", the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Dzhegutinskaya week". The specificity of journalistic work is that here you constantly meet new people, and these acquaintances sometimes make great changes in your life.
One of the most important events for Bilyal was meeting with Vladimir Chikatuev. Vladimir Chikatuev, the famous composer and musician, the founder of the pop direction in the Abaza song art, the head of the first in Karachay-Cherkessia vocal and instrumental ensemble "Abazinka" became the main musical critic for the bard. Since 1997, they have started to work closely together in the creation of new songs. Bilyal, who previously worked only in the genre of original songs, expanded his range and began to write lyrics to the pop music of Vladimir Chikatuev, and later took up the creation of their own pop songs. They perform the group "Abazgs", "Lokt", the artists Beslan Mizhaev, Liliya Chukova. These songs were performed at the contest "Song of the year-Abaza" and received high marks from the jury.
Bilyal Khasarokov himself also "came out of the shadows", performs at various bard festivals, in 2015 became the winner of the song contest "New Abazashta songs". The victory was brought to him by the song "Guest". It was the first test of performance of own song in variety processing. Deep in its internal philosophy, the work has acquired a new sound thanks to the arrangement of Oleg Murenko, exerting an even stronger impact on the audience. The author and performer encourages people to properly navigate the values of life and enjoy the sunlight and every lived day.
It is possible to grasp the immensity
Constantly working with Abaza texts, Bilyal Khasarokov penetrated deeper into the laws of the native language, analyzed the existing grammar, reflected on the existing problems in the field of Abaza linguistics. This work fascinated him more and more and eventually led him to graduate school of the department of Kabardino-Cherkess and Abaza philology of Karachay-Cherkess state university. After graduating from it, he undertook a scientific analysis of the punctuation of the Abaza language, wrote a thesis on this topic and in 2007 defended it at the Kabardino-Balkar state university.
Since then, he has been actively involved in numerous scientific conferences at the regional, national and international levels. As an authoritative expert, he is invited to various expert councils created by government agencies and public organizations. Bilyal Magometovich - member of the expert Council on educational and methodical sets of the national-regional component of the KChR on the Abaza language and ethnic culture of Abaza people; member of the educational and methodical Council on native languages and literature of the Karachay-Cherkess republican institute of advanced training of education workers (KCHRIHCWE) of the Ministry of education and science of the KChR; member of the International coordinating Council of the international Association "Alashara" in the direction of "Abaza language". He is the author of the project "Abaza language courses" on the basis of a separate unit of ANO" Alashara " in the city of Cherkessk for people who want to learn Abaza language "from scratch".
Bilyal Khasarokov reviews and edits school textbooks on Abaza language and literature. Working on compiling reference books on punctuation of Abaza language, archaisms of Abaza language, speech etiquette of Abaza people. As part of the program of the international coordinating Council, ANO "Alashara" prepares "Abaza language tutorial" for people who do not speak or poorly speak their native language. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on the basics of Abaza language stylistics.
In addition, he, as a person with experience in publishing (two years of work as head of the editorial and publishing department of KCHRIHCWE), often ask for help in the preparation of various books. Bilyal Khasarokov put his hand to the publication of "Anthology of literature of the peoples of the North Caucasus" (2006), "Anthology of Abaza poetry" (2007) and a number of other publications.
– Работы очень много. И кому-то ее надо делать, – пожимает плечами Биляль Магометович и повторяет: – Кто, если не мы?
He also created the website "Tynha" ("Heritage") to promote the language and ethnic culture of Abaza people, as a correspondent and interpreter from Russian language into Abaza and vice versa cooperates with various sites and STRC "Karachay-Cherkessia". And all this he combines with the main work of head of the department of the Kabardino-Circassian and Abaza languages and literatures of RSBI EPE "KCHRIHCWE".
– A lot of work. And someone needs to do it, - Bilyal Magometovich shrugs and repeats: - Who, if not we?
