On March 22, the second session of the VII Congress of the World Abkhaz-Abaza Congress was held in Sukhumi.
The first part of the Congress was held in Sukhumi from 7 to 9 December 2017. Then, for the first time in 25 years of the organization's existence, delegates voted to change the structure. Chairman of the Supreme Council became a famous scientist, philanthropist and social activist Mussa Ekzekov, executive secretary of WAAC was elected Inar Gitsba, in the past, the Plenipotentiary representative of Abkhazia in Turkey.
The current meeting with 208 delegates from Abkhazia, Russia, Turkey, Syria and Jordan was a continuation of the December Congress. Over the past time between the two meetings the project Charter has been finalized, a list of alleged members of the High Council and the audit Commission has been generated, the International internet portal abaza.org. has been developed.
Advisor of the President of Abkhazia Vladimir Zantaria addressed all participants of the Congress with a welcoming speech. He conveyed his words of support and good wishes to the Congress of the Abkhaz-Abaza people from Raul Khajimba.
Addressing the delegates, Mussa Ekzekov, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Abkhaz-Abaza World Congress, noted that today the foundation was laid for the implementation of programs created for the benefit and unity of the Abaza people. He spoke about the activities and plans of WAAC: "For the first time in the Charter we have developed a Provision on membership in the World congress. As soon as the Ministry of justice of Abkhazia registers the Charter, a Presidium of representatives will be elected from the members of the Supreme Council for each region. During the year, each region will prepare and adopt programs for the development of our ethnic group. This year, we will work together on projects that are being implemented in Abkhazia, Karachay-Cherkessia and Turkey. It is, for example, the Day of culture of the Abaza people, a sports project called "Abaza games", as well as "Festival of arts".
The head of the Abkhazian Diaspora in Moscow Beslan Agrba noted that the main task of the entire Abkhazian-Abaza people living in different countries of the world is the preservation and development of Abkhazia.
"I was pleased with the points of the Charter, which notes the commitment to the idea of creating the necessary conditions for the return of compatriots to their historical homeland and their participation in the development of the state. We have our own state, which not all the peoples of the world can boast of, and we, Abkhazians all over the world, should do everything to preserve and develop it," - Agrba said.
The head of the Abkhazian Diaspora in Moscow is sure that the potential of the huge Abkhazian-Abaza Diaspora, which exceeds the population of Abkhazia, should be taken into account and used in the construction of the state.
One of the most emotional performances, which was interrupted several times by applause, was the speech of the Chairman of the Federation of Abkhaz cultural centers of Turkey Atanur of Acusba. The leader of the largest Abkhazian diaspora, which numbers up to 500 thousand people, noted that the main challenge facing the people of Abaza is the threat of loss of national consciousness. Acusba gave the example of a number of settlements in Turkey, which was once the Abkhaz, but gradually died, people have lost the national culture of their ancestors, forget their native language. It is necessary to consolidate all forces of the people for the preservation and development of culture of the Abkhaz and Abaza, the creation of conditions for the revival of the language, the leader of the Turkish Abkhaz and Abaza is sure. "We should not leave our brothers and sisters, even if they have not returned to their historical Homeland, and decided to stay in the countries of residence. And there we should all help them to feel part of Abkhazian society," - he said.

Vyacheslav Chirikba, Beslan Agrba, Ahmet Khapat, Ramazan, Mkhtse, Ruslan Karmov, Anuar Chkua, Ercan Khajimba, Natalie Lazba, Sharaf Marshan were included the Presidium of the Supreme Council of WAAC.
A new online portal WAAC abaza.org. were introduced to the participants, the head of which has become Amina Lazba. According to her, the portal will contribute to the "promotion of a positive image of Abkhazia in the global information space". The portal consists of three main blocks: the first tells about the activities of the Congress, the life of the Abkhaz-Abaza people in Abkhazia and beyond. The second informs about ethnography, culture, folklore, life of outstanding Abkhazian and Abaza figures. The third block is intended for communication between representatives of the diaspora. "All information will be in six languages – Abkhazian, Abaza, Russian, Turkish, Arabic and English," - said Amina Lazba.
The Congress also discussed the budget of the organization.
Assessing the last Congress, one of its participants, ethnographer – scientist of Caucasian languages, representative of the Abkhazian diaspora in Moscow Yuri Anchabadze said: "It was an outstanding event in public life in recent years, because the Congress was very representative, there were naturally representatives not only from Abkhazia, but from Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, our diaspora from Turkey, Syria. First of all, the Congress confirmed the desire of our diaspora for unity and integration."
